BOSTON – Thousands of Scottish football supporters visiting the United States for the World Cup took a break from the tournament atmosphere on Sunday to experience one of America’s most beloved sports: baseball.
The famous “Tartan Army” filled the streets of Boston with music and energy as they marched toward Fenway Park, accompanied by the sound of traditional bagpipes. Their visit came just one day after Scotland celebrated a historic 1-0 victory over Haiti, securing the nation’s first World Cup win since 1990.
Fans dressed in Scottish colors and kilts created a festive atmosphere around the iconic stadium, where Major League Baseball’s Boston Red Sox were hosting the Texas Rangers. Throughout the day, Scottish supporters entertained local fans with traditional songs and chants, including the well-known “Flower of Scotland,” which is closely associated with the national team.
The gathering highlighted the friendly spirit of the travelling supporters, who embraced the opportunity to experience American sporting culture while continuing to support their team during the World Cup.
Scotland will remain in Boston for their next group-stage match against Morocco on Friday before heading to Miami for a highly anticipated encounter with Brazil on June 24.
